About us

Though not from Cornwall we holidayed here many times before making the move to live our dream. Trina is from Hastings in East Sussex and was a classroom teaching assistant. I (Ryan) am from Banbury in Oxfordshire and was a secondary school teacher. We have three lovely boys, the youngest of whom is starting to sound a little bit more Cornish by the day!

We took over The Weary Friar Inn in April 2017 and are very proud to be running such a historic pub that many think of so fondly.

We are determined to look after your local and ensure that it is still here and prospering for many years to come.

Since taking over we have:

  • Built a great new team of highly competent staff
  • Redecorated the bar area
  • Refurbished the restaurant and brought it back into service
  • Reopened the restaurant bar with draught ale, lagers and cider to use for parties
  • Overhauled and added to the central heating system

  • Modernised the 13 guest rooms, including adding new bathroom suites
  • Updated the electrics and light fittings
  • Converted the stable bar, a disused outbuilding, into a one bedroom holiday cottage
  • Achieved The Weary Friar Inn's first ever 5* food hygiene rating
  • With the help of our supportive locals we have raised over £3000 for good causes
  • Installed a new kitchen extraction system by www.prestigeprofessional.co.uk
  • Gained planning permission for the conversion of an old barn into two further holiday cottages
  • Featured in the BBC TV programme Beyond Paradise!

We look forward to being the custodians of The Weary Friar Inn long into the future and helping to keep its history alive. Thank you to all our customers for your support.
