Welcome to Wallingford in the heart of South Oxfordshire
Little Gables is located on the outskirts of Wallingford – a picturesque market town which was granted its Town Charter in 1155. The Charter Market is held every Friday at the town hall in honour of this historic event and is popular with both locals and tourists alike.
With the River Thames flowing through the town, there is an abundance of picturesque walks both along its banks and nearby, including The Ridgeway National Trail which is Britain's oldest road. Passing close by Little Gables, the route begins at Overton Hill, near Avebury, and takes in the ancient Icknield Way through the Chiltern Hills before arriving at Ivinghoe Beacon, in Buckinghamshire, 87 miles (140km) later.
Our local area is filled with many wonderful pubs, restaurants and interesting places to visit. It also plays host to numerous events, including Henley Regatta and a large number of festivals and events (see our Events tab for more information).
Close by, you will discover the villages used to make such productions as "Midsummer Murders", "Morse", "Lewis", "Harry Potter" and "Downton Abbey".
We are within easy reach of the historic spire city of Oxford and Little Gables also provides an ideal base for Windsor (with its castle and Legoland), and Reading.
We are certainly blessed to be living in such a beautiful part of England. We would love you to come and discover it for yourself.
